I really would like to give Glasswells Removals a better rating, however their office team has let them down. We moved house a few weeks ago, and used Glasswells removals as they were very good on our previous move 3 years earlier. This time the move itself went very well, however some damage occurred to our sofa (the arms got scuffed). There were several issues with this: 1. The removals guys tried to blame the scuff on the fact that they had to work around another guy who was moving my aquarium (it's a big fish tank, and the guy was taking up some room, but not once did I hear them try to communicate with him to say, please move so they can get by) 2. When we told the Glasswells office about the damage they sent out a repairs company, but they didn't communicate to us that they were doing this. I got a call at 8:30 one morning from the repair guy telling me he was on his way, luckily my husband was working from home that day. The repair guy himself was not impressed that Glasswells had not informed us of his visit. 3. Once the repair guy came and left, telling us that we wouldn't be able to repair the damage easily if at all, we heard nothing for about a week. We decided to contact Glasswells ourselves, and got told to fill out an insurance claim form to claim directly from the insurance company. We did this, and sent it back to Glasswells as directed. We got no response, not even receipt of the email. 4. Almost 2 weeks later, we sent Glasswells another email to ask what was going on, as no communication attempt had been made by them. Still, no response. 5. My husband rang Glasswells about a week after sending the last email and still getting no response. He was met with a disgruntled woman on the phone, who made out that he was wasting her time, and she merely stated that the insurance company is "slow" and that we had to wait. Very poor communication and we are extremely disappointed with the way Glasswells have handled this situation, not to mention that we're unable to replace our damaged sofa because we have no idea what they're doing to rectify the damage! We won't be using Glasswells again.read more

Initial communications were excellent and gentleman who visited for the quote was professional but moving day was far from impressive and a catalogue of errors. They arrived late blaming heavy traffic(normal traffic in bury they only had to travel across town) and then had great trouble taking apart beds as they had used another van without tools. They were incredibly slow . Taking regular cigarette breaks and there was a reluctance to try and manoeuvre difficult items upstairs. In the end I asked them to leave one item as it was getting dark. They didn't take my dining table apart and moving it damaged the legs .not helped by the heavy boxes of books they piled up on top and some expensive wine glasses were also smashed. My partner used the good old man with a van who was careful, swift and professional and a quarter of the price!read more

I have just woken up in my new home after a busy day of moving. I absolutely want to give Glasswells a raving review however there was the odd thing that made moving more stressful yesterday. Having solved the parking issue at the old house and got started with the move, all was going well. A little slower than before as only two men and by midday me and my 10 year old were helping move stuff as cleaners had arrived and rooms weren't empty. Once at the new place another team met us there and things moved quicker. There was talk that the other team should have been there earlier at the old house. I had a few items I was precious about and whilst moving an old egg chair I sensed some impatience at not being able to fit it through the door. I asked them to be careful as I'd lovingly almost finished reupholstering it myself and the buttons on the back were rubbing on the frame of the door. One as predicted broke off and I became concerned. I was made to feel guilty at showing my distress and eventually as I explained where another item went later on one guy stormed off. I was told they'd been doing the job for years and knew what they were doing. I hadn't questioned that once I simply wanted my furniture placed into the relevant rooms in a small house so things had to be a certain way if they were to fit. We are an easy going family (my parents were there to help clean etc too) and had all been trying to have a laugh with these guys all day. I just found on this occasion it felt like they didn't want to be there. Ive since found a couple of frames damaged too, which I'd been asked to leave on the walls until they arrived and they would deal with. I wish now I'd packed them myself as I'd have wrapped them in the paper provided not just shoved in a box. If I'd miss understood and had been asked I'd have packed them for them whilst they continued. I'm glad we're in and it's over and I couldn't have done it without them but some let them down yesterday. I still don't have the M&S voucher that I mentioned when they bought the boxes over either. Im just a little disappointed as the last time I used glasswells 8 years ago I couldn't fault them. The guys were so easy going we all had a laugh and my midday we were heading over to the new place. So efficient and attentive I didnt have to lift a finger, nothing was too much trouble. It's not an easy job I wouldn't want to do it every day. And for those that made that last move easy I'm sorry for this review. I just wish it had been that easy this time.read more

Glasswells were so much cheaper than a lot of the other removals firms locally and did a brilliant job. They helped make the day stress free and placed everything where we asked. Would absolutely recommend them.read more

Feedback from a happy customer. "Now that we have settled into our new home, we wanted to write to thank Glasswells for your assistance with our move. Throughout our dealings with you, your staff have been unfailingly polite and helpful. When we have telephoned, our calls have been handled promptly and efficiently. When packing boxes were dropped off at our old address, your workers were friendly and polite. But we would like to draw particular attention to the wonderful service provided by your removals team on the day of our move. The crew were fantastic representatives of your company. They were attentive and proactive in all their work. Our move was particularly challenging because our flat is on the third floor of a block of apartments, and there is no lift, and yet, your team worked with speed, with care, and without complaint. We have always been impressed by the customer service that we have received from Glasswells, whether it has been talking to the store staff in Bury St Edmunds or taking delivery of furniture or carpets, but we felt that on this occasion, your service has exceeded all expectations." read more
